iPhone do uPhone?

I got a new phone! An iPhone! Don't worry I still have the same number. I was finally able to get rid of that other phone you see here. The iPhone is really more of a small computer than a phone but it does a fantastic job at that also. You can check e-mail, surf the web, watch video clips, text, take a picture, find where you are and where you are going with google maps, set a date with the calendar, write a note, check the weather, make a calculation, listen to music, check the time, check the stocks, buy music or do a number of other things with the applications that you can download directly to the phone. It blows my other phone away!

Sam "Heisman" Bradford

Finally Bradford got some well deserved recognition by winning the Heisman Trophy! Bradford beat out Tim Tebow and Colt McCoy of Florida and Texas respectively. ESPN's staff was probably upset by Bradford's win after all of their campaigning for McCoy. I couldn't be happier for Bradford and the Sooners! All we need now is to bring home the National Title! Go Sooners!

Big XII Championship Game

Here are a few pictures from the Big XII Championship game! OU blew out Missouri 62 - 21. We had some pretty good seats. We were in the lower level in the corner of the end-zone. Everyone in our section got a pom-pom so they made it difficult to get some pictures. But it was an awesome game! A lot of people threw oranges on the field which would have been cool if we were wanting to play in the Orange Bowl but we are playing in the National Championship game! Boomer Sooner!

Big XII

My Big 12 Championship tickets arived yesterday and I could not be more excited!

PS. Will someone please tell Texas and their buddy the national media to stop crying! This is not OU's fault everybody knew the rules when the season started. There was a THREE way tie in the south and NOT a two way tie. So the OU - Texas head to head does not matter! And if you bring it up then you MUST take into consideration the Texas - Texas Tech game and the OU - Texas Tech game. Thus the THREE way tie. OU is in the championship game fair and square! Enough said about that! BOOMER SOONER!

Big Twelve South Champs!

OU very fairly got into the Big Twelve championship game this weekend! To all of those people who are crying because Texas beat Oklahoma head to head... might I remind you of your head to head LOSS to Texas Tech! Oh and OU just happened to give Tech a Sooner Shilacking in Norman, beating them by 44 points...but I guess you would just like to forget about that.

To Bradford and the boys I will see you in Kansas City as you dismantle Chase Daniel once again. To Chase, don't forget to pack your Kleenex because you will be crying all night long.

Bronze Horseman

Translation:
Bronze Rider
Alexander Sergeevich Pushkin
.
.
I love you, place of Peter's making, I love your stern and stylish face, The Neva's mighty current breaking on her embankment's granite grace, The wrought-iron patterns of your fences, Your twilight's clear and thoughtful gloom. On summer evenings, shining moonless, When I sit sleepless in my room, And write and read and need no lanterns: How gleam the buildings, sleepless monsters, On streets deserted! And I see The Needle of the Admiralty.
.
.
This was the poem I had to memorize for my Russian class. We all recited our poems recently at a program in the Arts and Heritage Center in Ada on 13 November 2008. A music professor from East Central University sang. We recited our poems throughout the program. Also, the program was professionally recorded so I will have a copy of it soon!
.
Also I would like to point out that this is only a very small portion of the poem. The poem is about a man that wakes up in St. Petersburg during a storm and then sees the statue of Peter the Great (photo above) come alive and ride around the city. This poem is actually written on the base of the monument (it is on the other side in this photo).

These are some pictures from the OU - Nebraska game on 1 November 2008. OU DOMINATED! Nebraska turned the ball over on their first three possessions. Bradford had another Heisman performance night. The final score was 62-28. What made the night even better was finding out that Texas Tech beat Texas!

David Blaine is Awesome

Living in a clear hanging box.
Standing on a Pole.
This water stunt was amazing!
Buried alive.
Standing in Ice.
I was watching GMA today and they started David Blaine off on his latest stunt. To be honest, I get exactly why his stunts are so amazing. I think they are just stupendous. Here is a description of his latest stunt. Is anyone not impressed with this or am I the only one that finds it brilliant? I understand they are supposed to showcase his amazing endurance. I am just always impressed by his feats.

On September 22nd, 2008, David Blaine will attempt to hang from a thin wire five stories in the air – with no safety net or airbag to break his fall. Hanging on for his life, Blaine will be able to move around over the Wollman Rink and lower himself to interact closely with fans, dropping in upside down. The challenge concludes with a live ABC primetime special, "David Blaine: Dive of Death," Wednesday, September 24th (9:00-11:00 p.m., ET
They are worried that hanging upside down for three days can cause blindness. What a hero.

OKC Thunder

Well this is the best picture so far that shows Oklahoma City's basketball team name and logo (it has been circulating around many websites). I can't say how thoroughly disappointed i am with this. The team name is alright but not great. (They should have named it something that ends with a "s") The colors kind of remind me of the gay flag. I think there are too many colors and they are too bright. As for the logo itself it looks cheap. It in no way makes me think of thunder or anything associated with it. Why did it take SO long to come up with this?! Also I found it irritating that they said the uniforms are complete but they won't show what they look like until they start their training camp. Just show us what they look like! Everyone pretty much knew what the name was going to be before they announced it. I had heard from two separate sources what the name was before they officially announced the name. I really hope they come out with a new logo and quickly!

Update: I was able to capture some pictures from the press conference video.

OU Sooners vs. Chattanooga

Demarco will burn you even with his shoe untied!
Blocked Field Goal!

Box score

After months of waiting football fans everywhere are celebrating the return of college football this past Saturday.
OU's first opponent was the Chattanooga Tennessee Mocs. OU had an almost perfect first half. Quarterback Sam Bradford was awesome. He only had a few in-completions but those were only due to his receivers dropping perfectly placed passes. I think will have another stellar season. I hope he wins the Heisman this year!
The second half was delayed 90 minutes due to lightning and heavy rain. At that point OU was already ahead 50-0. They should of just called the game. Stoops was merciful in the second half because the final score was 57-2. The Mocs only points were off a safety caused by a high snap over the punters head that went through the end-zone.
OU survived the game without any major injuries. It was nice to see that this years team looks good and poised to dominate every game!

Chad Johnson is officially insane. He has changed his last name to Ocho Cinco. He seems to prefer this nickname he gave himself which refers to his number (85) in Spanish.

McCain - Palin... What?!

I have to say John McCain just sealed it for me. I am a republican and I am voting for Barack Obama. McCain has lost his argument against Obama that he is too inexperienced. McCain's choice of Sarah Palin for a Vice Presidential candidate was extremely poor. She has NO experience whatsoever. She was mayor of a small Alaska town for two terms and has been Governor of Alaska, a state of less than a million people, for only 20 months. Oh you might want to include that she was part of the PTA and a mother, but no matter how you look at it she is not qualified for the second highest office in America. Obviously this was a bold move to attract all of those upset Hillary Clinton supporters. Any true republican can see that this ticket is very weak and does not reflect the party at all. We have a presidential candidate who is a democrat in republican clothing and a woman who has just gotten into politics. I hope you will join me in voting for Barack Obama!

This is a pretty good article from Politico.com "6 things the Palin pick says about McCain."

Is Retirement From Pro Sports Really That Hard?

Well, I was reading ESPN today and saw an article about New York Giant's former player Michael Strahan possibly returning to the team. Can you say Brett Farve?! This made me wonder whether retirement from pro sports is really possible. These guys have played for years and reached the top of their game. They can go out on top and be a legend forever. Why do they "retire" for the off-season and then suddenly want to come back?! If you feel like you might want to come back then keep relations with the team and stay in shape but sit out for at least one season. You just might find that retirement is the right thing for you. Players that pull this kind of crap just make me lose respect for them. Keep your word.
UPDATE!! UPDATE!! UPDATE!!
Michael Strahan has decided to stay retired... Thank goodness!
