Today we had a tornado pass through town. It was mostly in north Edmond. But there were tornadoes that hit western Oklahoma City as well. I also just heard that 3 people died in a tornado in southern Oklahoma in Lone Grove. I was stuck at UCO during most of the tornado frenzy. Towards the end of my second class an alert popped up on the projector screen that said there was a weather warning. Everyone started checking their phones and we soon found out that there was a tornado warning for Oklahoma county. My teacher kept saying that they would come on the intercom and tell us if we needed to leave -that never happened! People just started to leave while my teacher was talking. Eventually we heard the sirens go off and that's when everyone else started to leave. At first some lady came in and told us to stay in the room we were in (a large auditorium in the business building). Then shortly after that we were told to go to the basement of the communications building that is next to the business building. I got to the door of the business building when I saw people lined up out the door of the communications building -they were completely full. So we were told to go to the liberal arts building basement. I got there and found out that that basement was also full. I went into a computer lab in that building. I was able to check the weather there but didn't find out much because during these storms you really want to be watching TV because it is the most up to date. We were then told that we could go back to our class rooms and that no classes were canceled. I went back to the business building and actually found a TV to watch. My professor was also standing there and found out that he canceled class! I decided to leave because it had not rained very much yet and I knew it was going to rain pretty hard at some point and I also had my windows down in my car so I thought I would leave and make sure that my car's interior did not get soaked. I made it about half way to my car when the wind picked up and it started to rain and hail really hard. I was soaked by the time I got into my car. The radio was saying that there was possibly a tornado in downtown Edmond and also very close to where I live (that turned out to be false). So i drove to my Dad's office. That's where I road out the rest of the storm and did some homework. Nobody in my family or anyone we know was effected. Well one person that I go to church with was pretty close. The tornado went through here neighborhood but she is fine. So that was pretty much my day!
